The a capella sextet Sjaella has been a fixture on the international vocal music scene for years, performing concerts at renowned festivals and winning many competitions. The Leipzig-based ensemble has been on concert tours to South Africa, Belgium, Spain and Norway and is now coming to Australia. JUNGES VOKALENSEMBLE HANNOVER

Junges Vokalensemble Hannover was founded in 1981 by Prof. Klaus-Jürgen Etzold. The choir specialises in demanding works, has won many competitions and has made several concert tours. These have taken the choir not only to other European countries, but also to Egypt, Israel, Mexico, Russia, Venezuela, China, Turkey, the Philippines, Singapore, the USA, South Africa and Namibia – and now to New Zealand and Australia. GEWANDHAUS MUSICIANS

28 JULY – 05 AUGUST 2023 | CLASSICAL MUSIC | ADELAIDE, MELBOURNE, SYDNEY

The roots of Leipzig’s Gewandhaus Orchestra can be traced back as far as 1479, making it one of the world’s oldest and most distinguished orchestras. This concert tour is a unique opportunity to hear eight of its members in intimate chamber music settings in Australia. Curated by violist and member of the orchestra, Tahlia Petrosian, the group will perform a carefully selected program, partially with local guest musicians and contextualised by talks and workshops in Australia.
